Nigeria’s Federal Government has been asked to address the challenges of unemployment among the youths across the nine states of the Niger Delta region.
It is to create positive impacts as part of the post Covid-19 economic strategy.
The call was made by former Federal Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Joe Keshi and the Director, Foundation for Initiatives of the Niger Delta, Dara Akala, at a virtual meeting organized to educate the youths on job creation in the region, with the support of Ford Foundation.
Akala says, youths in the region have been neglected in past years, which has led to various challenges amongst the people.
He advised government to create strategies and enabling environment that would aid job creation in the nine states of the oil region, and Nigeria in general.
Various speakers at the event which brought participants in the Niger Delta Region together with the use of virtual technology include, Dabi Saki of Ford Foundation and Afolabi Imoukede from the presidency who discussed the way forward to stamp out underdevelopment from the nine states of the nation’s oil rich region.
