How dare you? - Oyakhilome fumes, tackles FG for limiting duration of services due to COVID-19

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome is still not happy with the federal government's decision to limit the duration of services in churches

Recall that the federal government issued some directives as part of safety measures to curb the spread of coronavirus while lifting the ban on religious gatherings

- In his reaction, the cleric said the government had no right to tell God's people how many hours they can spend in church

The guidelines for reopening of worship centres amid the ravaging coronavirus pandemic has been a bone of contention between the federal government and religious leaders.

One of such religious leaders is Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, president of LoveWorld Incorporated, better known as Christ Embassy, who has constantly kicked against it.

One of the guidelines while lifting the ban on religious centres was that the duration of services in churches and mosques must not exceed one hour at a time.

Oyakhilome is obviously not in support of this decision and has criticised the government for it.

In a broadcast to members of his church, Oyakhilome said the government had no right to take such decision, while also expressing disgust at the directive.

“I am appalled that some people have the audacity to tell us how many hours we can spend in church. How dare you?

“What in the world do you think you are? You cannot tell God’s people how long they can spend in church. If you built the building for them and you are saying you are not going to let them enter the building, maybe because you built it.

“But if you didn’t, you have no right to tell God’s people you’re going to spend one hour or two hours in church. I tell you, the number of hours you tell them they have in the church is the number of hours you have left," the man of God said.
